The college held the opening ceremony and military training mobilization conference for freshmen at the stadium on September 1st. More than 5,000 students from all over the country gathered on the beautiful campus to jointly embark on a new journey.
The opening ceremony and military training mobilization conference began with the solemn national anthem. Party Secretary Diao Hongbin presented the regimental flag to the freshmen's military training regiment, officially kicking off the freshmen's military training.
President Jiang Yupeng delivered a speech titled Make Progress Every Day, Grow Every Month, and Eventually Achieve Success: Strive to Write a Youth Chapter of Being Responsible for the Country and Shouldering the Mission. On behalf of the college, he extended a warm welcome to all freshmen and expressed heartfelt gratitude to the parents, teachers, and military training instructors.
President Jiang pointed out that the college traces its origins to Private Qingdao Vocational School of Commerce established in 1945. After the unremitting efforts of several generations, the college has gone through an 80 - year journey and is celebrating its 80th anniversary.
Regarding growth and development, Jiang Yupeng shared three experiences with the freshmen: First, What kind of college is our school?, he said that the college has always adhered to the mission of cultivating morality and educating people, and promoting education for the people, and is based on building a first-class domestic and internationally renowned comprehensive professional chain in the hospitality industry; Second, What kind of people does the era need you to be?, inspiring students to set lofty aspirations that resonate with the country and grow into compound talents who can adapt to the era; Third, How to become a person who lives up to both the era and oneself, hoping that students can carefully plan their college life, clarify their goals, maintain their motivation, and strengthen physical exercise to ensure physical and mental health.
The parent representative, Mr. Wang Hongtao, said in his speech that he hoped the students could learn to take care of themselves, reasonably balance their work and spare time, learn to be a noble person and do things, behave well, study independently, and actively plan their life during the college.
on behalf of all teachers, Guo Jinqian, a teacher from the School of Information Engineering and Technology, hoped that the students could maintain their curiosity and be explorers of the meta-universe; learn to collaborate and be ensemble players in resonance; embrace reality and be warm-hearted doers.
The freshman representative, Du Xiaoshuang from the School of Culture and Tourism, said that they would strive to practice the school spirit of love, strength, and responsibility, using love as the sail to cultivate family and country feelings; using strength as the oar to temper excellent skills; using responsibility as the rudder to practice the responsibility of youth.
The representative of the military training instructors also hoped that the students could inherit the great anti-Japanese war spirit of the revolutionary predecessors during the training, promising to scientifically train according to the regulations, and encouraging the students to strictly abide by the discipline, train hard, successfully complete the task, and pay tribute to the predecessors and live up to the era with practical actions.
Vice president Gong Enlong, when hosting the ceremony, said that he hoped the students could carry forward the great anti-Japanese war spirit, temper their will, and promote unity during the military training, and maintain physical and mental health, have a happy life, and make progress in their studies in the future college life.
During the military training, the school will carry out the study of basic military knowledge and basic military skills training, simultaneously carry out comprehensive education such as entrance education and national defense education, strengthen daily behavior norms, and so on.
